Livingston Native Tommy DeVito Starts As Giants QB, Lives with Mom
The press had a bit of a field day when rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito, from Livingston (or is he?), started for the Giants on Sunday.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Essex County's Tommy DeVito inspired a field day in the media over the weekend when he became the first undrafted rookie quarterback to start with the Giants in a while — particularly after he divulged that he still lives at home, and that his mom makes his bed.
"My mom still makes my bed...it's a no-brainer," he was quoted as saying in various American and even international news outlets.
But where is home, actually?

DeVito was born in Livingston, according to his college bio, but grew up and still lives with his family in Cedar Grove. Some news outlets, including USA Today, simply said he's from Livingston.
His family currently owns a home in Cedar Grove, records show. For high school, DeVito graduated from Don Bosco Prep School in Ramsey.

His domestic situation seemed to command as many headlines as his football performance.
"Is Tommy DeVito related to Danny DeVito and other pressing questions about homebody Giants QB," was USA Today's contribution. (As far as they can tell, the 4'10" TV star and the 6'2" signal-caller are not closely related.)
But more importantly, how did the younger DeVito do on Sunday?
He "wasn't a complete disaster" opined Sports Illustrated, while Newsday called him ineffective but noted that he inherited the Giants' "mess."
And DeVito's dad, for his part, attended the game and criticized a Giants' fourth down play against the Cowboys.
Coach Brian Daboll says he'll start the rookie again next week, particularly as Daniel Jones is out for the season with a torn ACL.
"I thought he did some good stuff," Daboll said. "Things to work on, that's why we competed all the way to the end and give him as many different situations as he can get."
