Livingston Property Tax Bills Hitting The Mail Soon, Grace Period Extended

The township shared a reminder for Livingston homeowners in a recent advisory.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston homeowners should be getting their latest property tax bills in the mail soon, town officials say.

The township shared a reminder for local homeowners in a recent advisory: “The 2025 final/2026 preliminary tax bills will be mailed the first week of August 2025. The grace period for third quarter taxes has been extended to Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025.”

Property taxes in New Jersey are mainly made up of three parts: school, municipal and county. In 2024, the average Livingston resident paid $17,640 in property taxes on a home valued at $721,238 (not including credits and deductions).

MUNICIPAL BUDGET

The Livingston Town Council unanimously voted to adopt the 2025 municipal budget at their meeting on June 4. View the budget here.

Local homeowners will face a municipal tax increase of 2.12 percent, less than the the Consumer Price Index of 2.9 percent – which is “below inflation,” Deputy Mayor Shawn Klein said.

Mayor Ed Meinhardt said the municipal portion of a local homeowner’s taxes comes to about 17.9 percent of their total bill this year.
