Livingston Store Debuts 'Drive-In' Shopping

ShopRite of Livingston has been successful with both delivery and pick-up ordering.

Customers can go home with groceries and snacks for the ride without even getting out of the car. ShopRite of Livingston debuted what it calls ShopRite from Home in late 2012; customers quickly learned to place orders online for either delivery or pickup.

Melanie Gould, a loyal Livingston shopper, has become "hooked," she says, on the service. "I call it drive-in shopping," says Gould. "I order from home and then I literally drive into the parking lot. The people load the groceries and I go."

Walter Broscius, director of technology for Village Super Market, Inc., which owns and operates the ShopRite of Livingston, explains that the feedback has been positive.

"Livingston ShopRite customers comment time and again not only on the convenience of the service but on the special care our personal shoppers take in selecting their groceries - especially fresh meats and produce," says Broscius. "Our personal shoppers shop the store with customers' orders very carefully, treating each one as if they were shopping for their own families."

While there is a charge for the service, many weeks offer specials. In addition, notes Broscius, "In-store promotions and sales apply, as well. And our customers love that they can still use their coupons."
