Livingston Teen Awarded Swimming Medals

Livingston’s Sean Tan, 12, recently won seven medals at the 2013 New Jersey YMCA 12 Under State Championships held at the Ocean County YMCA.

Tan was awarded three gold medals his performance in the 200-yard backstroke, the 200-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard backstroke. In addition, he won silver medals in the 100-yard backstroke, the 200-individual medley, the 100-individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle.

“I am very proud of Sean’s accomplishments,” said West Essex YMCA Swim Team Head Coach Paul Casazza. “He has improved his swim technique over the last four years and has become a very versatile swimmer in high-level competitions. Tan is a motivated and driven 12 year old who has become a team leader helping to push the team toward success,” he added.
