Livingston Youth Lands ‘First Fish’ In County Fishing Derby
A young angler from Livingston emerged victorious in a county-sponsored fishing derby.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A Livingston resident recently emerged victorious in a county-sponsored youth fishing derby.
Abigail Mia of Livingston caught the first fish in the girls’ category at one of the 2024 Essex County Fishing Derbies, which took place at the South Mountain Recreation Complex.
Mia landed her fish at 6:02 p.m.

The county holds a series of fishing contests for local kids and young teens every year. This year, derbies took place at Irvington Park Pond, Monte Irvin Orange Park Pond, Grover Cleveland Park Pond, Weequahic Park Lake, the Verona Park Boathouse, South Mountain Recreation Complex (Orange Reservoir) and Branch Brook Park.
