Man Strangled Girlfriend In Newark, Left Body In Livingston: ECPO
The victim's body was found near a golf course in North Jersey. She had indicated she wanted to end their relationship, prosecutors said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A New Jersey man has been accused of strangling his girlfriend to death in Newark and leaving her body near a golf course in Livingston, authorities say.
A worker at Cedar Hill Country Club found the body of Dayana Chisaguano Maleza, 28, on Oct. 7 near the roadway of the club, according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Livingston Police Department.
Last week, prosecutors announced that police arrested Andres Calvachi-Paz, 35, accusing him of strangling Maleza inside their Newark apartment after an argument. Maleza had indicated she wanted to end their relationship, authorities said.

Calvachi-Paz then placed her body in his car and drove around for several hours before disposing of the remains on Walnut Street in Livingston. Afterward, he allegedly engaged in an elaborate scheme to make it appear as though the victim was still alive – including sending messages from her cell phone, prosecutors said.
Calvachi-Paz was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree disturbing human remains and third-degree theft.
