Memorial Day Parade, Ely Cemetery Open Monday

Memorial Day will begin with a memorial service at The Oval starting at 9:30 a.m. 

The service will be followed by a parade down S. Livingston Avenue ending at Congressional Way. In case of inclement weather, service will be held in Livingston High School, located at 30 Robert H. Harp Drive. 

In addition, the Livingston Historical Society will open the Ely Cemetery on Memorial Day. 

Located at the corner of Hillside Avenue and Hillside Terrace, the cemetery is the burial ground of Captain William Ely, an early Livingston settler, and his descendants.

According to Livingston Historical Society records, the Ely family arrived in this country in 1660, when Richard Ely emigrated from Plymouth, England.
