Police Chase In Livingston After Car Burglary Attempt: Authorities
An attempted car burglary in Livingston escalated into a police chase. Here's what happened next, authorities said.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — An attempted car burglary in Livingston escalated into a police chase last week, authorities announced Tuesday.
According to the Livingston Police Department, officers were patrolling Knollwood Drive at 3:18 a.m. on Feb. 13 when they came across a black Audi Q5 with its brake lights on. As they got closer to the vehicle, someone ran out of a parked BMW M340i and jumped into the Audi.
The officers tried to stop the vehicle but the driver took off, leading them on a short chase until the Audi escaped onto Route 280 eastbound from Laurel Avenue, authorities said.

Police later confirmed that the suspects were trying to burglarize the BMW. The homeowner told officers that the vehicle was left unlocked.
A police investigation continues, authorities said.
