A state assemblywoman from Livingston is spotlighting her experience as an educator and immigrant as she seeks re-election in New Jersey.

Bagolie – who served on the Livingston Town Council before winning an Assembly seat – recently released a campaign video that outlines her campaign platform and background as a Jewish-Latina immigrant from the Dominican Republic. Watch the video here, and learn more about her priorities here.
Bagolie, a member of the Assembly Education Committee, has criticized President Donald Trump for the ongoing federal budget cuts and his plan to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education.

It’s also a state issue, she pointed out.
“With the Trump Administration renewing its attacks on public education — including a plan to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education — we need leaders who understand our classrooms, not just the politics,” Bagolie said.
“I’ve been on the front lines,” she added. “I know what’s at stake, and I’m fighting to protect our students, support our teachers, and strengthen our schools.”
“Now more than ever, we must protect our kids’ education,” the lawmaker wrote in a recent social media post. “Cuts to federal programs are putting public schools, honest curriculum, and our hardworking educators at risk.”
Bagolie was present at a recent “Hands Off!” protest against the Trump administration in Montclair, reporting that the turnout was “incredible.”
What an incredible turnout- over 5,000 voices united at the #HandsOff rally in Brookdale Park, Montclair yesterday. Deep thanks to the Montclair Dems for bringing us together and to all our co-sponsors for their partnership and commitment. pic.twitter.com/3N5u1ZywEE

According to her campaign team, Bagolie sponsored or co-sponsored more than 248 bills during her first term in the Statehouse, while also fighting for property tax relief through the ANCHOR Program and advocating for expanded Senior Freeze and Stay New Jersey initiatives.
Bagolie has secured endorsements from the Essex and Passaic County Democratic Committees.
She holds a master’s degree in elementary education and a doctorate in educational leadership from Seton Hall University, along with a master’s degree in special education from Rutgers University.
Bagolie recently held a petition signing event at Sugar Tree Café in Livingston.
