School Board Candidate Deadline, Council Meeting and More This Week

The Livingston Board of Education will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Livingston High School, at 30 Robert Harp Drive.
At the previous board meeting in May, the board appointed John Alfieri as the new district superintendent. Current Superintendent Brad Draeger will step down after eight years on July 31. Draeger announced his retirement in November and July will mark the end of his 38-year career in public service.

The deadline for candidates to register their names for the Livingston Board of Education election this November is Tuesday.
Candidates must submit a nominating petition in order to get their names on the November ballot. Petitions must be filled out by 4 p.m. on Tuesday and delivered in person to the Essex County Clerk's Office, at 465 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Room 246, Newark. Regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Nominating petitions can be picked up at the Business Office of the Livingston Public Schools, at 11 Foxcroft Drive or found online at the New Jersey School Boards Association's website.
