September is National Preparedness Month and Livingston Township is encouraging residents to sign up for its emergency notification system.
The township has implemented Swift911, a high-speed notification program with the capability of delivering pre-recorded messages to the entire community via telephone, cell phone, email and text messaging.
This new system is more reliable and flexible than the township's previous notification system, and more departments will have access to it, including:The Livingston Police Department;.

The Tax Department, for property tax notifications;
The systems requires information such as name, address, contact preferences, additional phone numbers and email addresses.

The Swift911 system uses a publicly available list of phone numbers for both residents and businesses. Residents and businesses can add or remove their phone numbers from the system online. They can also add cell phones numbers and an email addresses.
Residents can also sign up for the notification system at town hall or the police department.
