Youth Appreciation Week Continues Wednesday

Youth Appreciation Week continues Wednesday with a wiffle ball clinic and other programs for children with special needs, "adopt a grandparent" and a movie. 

The Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities will host programs for children with special needs throughout the evening at the West Essex YMCA, at 321 South Livingston Ave.

A wiffle ball clinic will be from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a balloon artist, magician, and a music clinic from 7 to 8 p.m. The programs are free of charge. For more information, call (973) 970-4441.

Youth volunteers can also "adopt a grandparent" between 3 and 6 p.m. at Inglemoor Rehabilitation & Care Center, at 311 S. Livingston Ave. Volunteers are encouraged to can hang out and play games with senior residents. 

The final event of the day will be a screening of “Livingston Heroes in Their Own Words," a film about Livingston's war heroes. The movie will be shown at the Livingston Public Library, at 10 Robert Harp Drive, between 7 to 9 p.m.

The movie will feature interviews conducted by Livingston High School students with men and women who served in the military and afforded Livingston the opportunity to celebrate her 200 years of freedom.

A reception will follow the film. All are invited to attend and meet many of the men and women featured in the film as well as many other Livingston veterans.
