Dead Fish Are Washing Up On Long Branch River Banks: Report

Residents have complained to local and state officials about the smell coming from the schools of dead bunker fish washing up.

LONG BRANCH—Schools of dead fish are washing up on the banks of homes along a tributary of the Shrewsbury River in the north end of Long Branch.

According to News 12, residents are complaining of the stench that is coming from schools of Atlantic menhaden or bunker, that are washing up on the muddy banks of the Manhasset and Branchport Creeks, both of which are tributaries of the Shrewsbury River.
