LONG BRANCH, NJ – A 35-year-old Long Branch woman was sentenced on Monday to 35 years in state prison for planning and carrying out the sexual assault of a toddler with an accomplice more than four years ago, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.

Olga Diaz must serve 33½ years before becoming parole-eligible under New Jersey’s Jessica Lunsford Act and No Early Release Act. Upon release, Diaz must register under Megan’s Law and will be on Parole Supervision for Life.

The investigation into Diaz by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Long Branch Police Department began on June 16, 2017, when a man walked into Long Branch police headquarters saying he had just witnessed two individuals committing sexual acts upon a child through a window of a Seaview Avenue apartment unit.

Diaz was arrested later that day while pulling out of her driveway while her accomplice, 37-year-old Mauricio Leon of Bloomfield, was arrested a week later in Fort Lee with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Diaz pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of endangering the welfare of a child back in April.

In August 2019, Leon was sentenced to 25 years in state prison on first-degree aggravated sexual assault and third-degree possession of child pornography charges.

During her plea allocution, Diaz admitted that she and Leon planned the sexual attack via text message, including taking nude photographs of the child - who was under the age of five and was known by Diaz - the day before the sexual assault.

Diaz also took a separate video of herself sexually assaulting the child hours before the pair assaulted her together, sending both the images and video to Leon using her cell phone. The police recovered all of the text messages, photos and video.

“The depths of depravity necessary for two people to plan and commit a crime of this nature together against a helpless child are both beyond the capacity of the English language to suitably articulate and beyond the capacity of human comprehension to adequately understand,” Linskey said. “There is no place in any civilized society for anyone capable of such acts.”

As a result of Friday’s sentencing, which includes 25 years for the sexual assaults and 10 years for the endangering to be served consecutively, Diaz will be 64 before becoming eligible for parole.
