Pallone Announces $9.5 Million In Aid For NJ Fishing Industry
The money comes from a COVID-19 relief bill signed into law late last year.
LONG BRANCH, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) announced on Tuesday that as part of the covid relief bill signed into law last December, New Jersey fisheries would receive $9.5 million in aid to cover the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic had on the fishing industry.
New Jersey’s commercial fishing industry generates over $8 billion yearly, supporting over 50,000 jobs, and is the home to one of the country's largest saltwater recreational fishing industries.
“New Jersey’s fishing communities were deeply affected by the coronavirus pandemic, which is why I fought so hard to include robust funding for them in Congress,” Congressman Pallone said in a press release.
