A Piece Of The Past - Long Branch HS Ring Found In Maine Home

The current owner of the home would like to find the ring's original owner.

LONG BRANCH, NJ - A Maine man who is remodeling his home is hoping to find the owner of a 1962 Long Branch High School class ring he discovered in some old flooring.

"The rightful owner may still be wondering what happened to it," Bob Coombs posted on his Facebook page. "I would love to return it and hear the stories of how it came to be here!"

The ring is small, about a size 5 or size 6. It has an emerald stone. The initials inside are "JM."

Coombs' home was built in 1837 by an architect with the last name of Overlock. But it was used as a boarding house in the 1950s/1960s, he said.

"I was also told that during the filming for the movie Peyton Place, several of the stars of the movie were housed there during the filming," he wrote. "While tearing out some old flooring this class ring popped out."

If you think you know who the ring belongs to, you can contact Coombs on Facebook.

"If someone contacts me I can ask them specific questions," he said.
