5 Things to Do in the Region
Weekend activities include comedy in Kinnelon, a Morristown shopping bazaar and the fourth annual St. Pat's Community 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run in Chatham.

The work week is nearly over and you've worked hard. Treat yourself to some downtime diversion, either alone or with family or friends. Here are five ideas in the areaΒ for great weekend happenings:
- Laugh it up whenΒ Women of Smoke Rise presentΒ Kiki Melendez & The Hot TamalesΒ Friday night. The comedy show features acts fromΒ Showtime, Comedy CentralΒ and The Hollywood Improv:Β Nadine Rajabi, Valentino, Vanessa Hollingshead, Johnny Ray and Jody Wasserman. TheΒ 21 and over show benefitsΒ Tri-Boro First Aid Squad & WSR Scholarship Fund. The performance takes place atΒ Smoke Rise Village Inn, 9 Perimeter Road in Kinnelon.Β Tickets areΒ $65. - If you like shopping, you're sure to love this.Β TheΒ 89th Annual BazaarΒ will transform three floors of the Parish House of the Presbyterian Church in Morristown into a festive shopping marketplace. Check outΒ the Nearly New Shop from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.Β for gifts, theΒ Unique Boutique for collectibles and a Kids' World featuring tous, games and sports equipment. Show the children the pumpkin patch on the front lawn and enjoy the music ofΒ New York folk group the Lords of Lichtenstein.Β Homemade soup, sandwiches, wraps andΒ desserts are served at lunch.Β All proceeds from the free-admission eventΒ support mission work, much of it within Morristown.Β For more details, go toΒ http://www.pcmorristown.org/participate/bazaar. (Opening night shopping is available Friday from 7-9 p.m. for a $10 donation. Appetizers and dessert will be served as you shop, and dealers are welcome.)
- Chatham'sΒ St. Patrick Parish hostsΒ its fourth annual St. Patβs Community 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run SundayΒ beginning at 10 a.m.Β The raceβwhose proceeds benefitΒ the parish, St. PatrickΒ SchoolΒ and localΒ organizations inΒ memory of the Rev.Β Edward Hindsβis USA Track & Field sanctionedΒ through the streets in Chatham. Participants can register online atΒ www.stpat5k.orgΒ to sign up for the 5K run and 1 Mile Fun run. Β Entry fee isΒ $25. The church is atΒ 45 Chatham St.
- Benefit the Christopher and Susan Phillips Foundation Scholarship Program by attending its foundation'sΒ 3rd Annual Wine Tasting and Tricky TrayΒ noon-3 p.m. atΒ Villa Rose WineΒ School,Β 111 Kings RoadΒ in Madison.Β Registration is $20; the fee includes the wine tasting, a wine glass, light fare and aΒ tricky tray raffle.
- Interested gardeners are invited to anΒ Open House at The Land Conservancy of New Jerseyβs Community Garden at SouthΒ Branch Preserve.Β RegisterΒ to purchase 10 x 10 foot plots for the 2014 season,Β the gardenβs second year of operation.Β Β TheΒ 2014 gardening season will run from March 15 to Nov. 15.Β The annual membership rate for Land Conservancy members is $30 per plot; the rate forΒ
non-residents and non-members is $40. There is a one-time irrigation fee of $30Β for each plot, paid the first year only.
