$61K Raised For Cancer At West Morris Regional Relay For Life

The American Cancer Society held a Relay For Life on Friday, June 2 at West Morris Mendham High School.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Survivors and local community members came together to kick cancer at the West Morris Relay For Life event this past weekend.

Relay for Life, which raises funds for the American Cancer Society, kicked off on June 2, at West Morris Mendham High School at 5 p.m. Relay for Life honors everyone affected by cancer and seeks to honor and remember loved ones and survivors in the community.

More than $60,000 was raised during the event for the American Cancer Society, officials said.

"We are thankful for all the hard work of everyone at Relay for Life of West Morris who came together this season and did their part to fund the future. Together, we have raised more than $60,000 in the fight against cancer and we still have donations coming in," event organizers said.

All community members were welcome to attend Relay for Life, which also featured live entertainment, games, yoga, eating contests and trivia with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

The walk began by honoring any local cancer survivors, and all event attendees are encouraged to line the track and cheer on the survivors during the survivor's lap.

Teams and participants can continue to collect donations until July 31, when the website will change to 2024's event.
