Card Game Kerfuffle Leads to Drug Arrest in Long Valley: Cops
Police responded to report of physical altercation and stumbled upon drugs, authorities said.

A Long Valley man was arrested on charges of drug possession after police searched his apartment during a report of an alleged fight, Washington Township Police Lt. Doug Compton said.
Office Kevin Barnes and Cpl. Michale Hade responded to a report of a physical altercation in process at an apartment in Washington Township at 12:56 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, Compton said.
When the officers arrived they learned the disturbance was not an altercation, rather several βintoxicatedβ subjects arguing over a card game, Compton said. When police were investigating the matter, they observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the apartment, Compton said.

The apartmentβs tenant, Scotty Tibus, 44, gave consent to search the residence, which yielded several pieces of drug paraphernalia and less than 50 grams of marijuana, Compton said.
Tibus was arrested and also found to have two active warrants out of Mt. Olive Township in the total amount of $600, Compton said. Tibus posted bail and was released with a criminal complaint for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
