Senator Anthony Bucco presents certificates to four Washington Twp. police officers.

A month after Washington Township’s finest jumped into action to save a woman who was overdosing on heroin, four officers were honored Wednesday night by local and state officials.

Chief Jeffrey Almer, Cpl. Kirk Griffin, Det. John Wurtemberg, and officers John Lee and Derek Heymer were recognized by Senator Anthony Bucco for their life-saving actions on Sept. 10.

According to the original police report, at 2:53 p.m. Officers John Lee and Derek Heymer responded to a home on West Mill Road for an unconscious subject, Compton said. When the officers arrived they found a 35-year-old woman from Whitehouse Station who was staying at the residence was suffering from a drug overdose, Compton said.
