Drug Possession, Child Sex Abuse Charge In Long Valley: Police Blotter

A recent arrest was made by the police department for endangering the welfare of a child in the township, according to the blotter.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — In recent weeks, Long Valley has seen a drug possession arrest and the arrest of a 24-year-old Long Valley man for endangering the welfare of a child. The following information was compiled from Washington Township police department records.

On Jan. 5, 2023, Washington Township Police detectives arrested a 24-year-old Long Valley man in connection with allegedly possessing or knowingly viewing child pornography.

The man, who has not been publicly identified by police, was initially charged with endangering the welfare of a child. According to police, the arrest stemmed from an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation conducted by the detectives.

The defendant was processed and released pending his court appearance.

On Dec. 16, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Washington Township police officer pulled over a vehicle on Route 46 for motor vehicle violations on both the driver and the passenger. After obtaining the occupant's information, police discovered that the passenger was wanted on multiple warrants.

After the suspect was apprehended, police conducted an incidental search and discovered a crack pipe, two bags of crack cocaine and multiple heroine folds. The suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The defendant was later taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility to await his first court appearance.
