The Long Valley Fire Company, which is part of the Washington Township Fire Department, has been serving the community of Washington Township since 1911.

The fire department, which was established in 1921, is a life-saving and property-saving organization with over 100 years of community emergency response experience. The department moved to its current location on Fairview Avenue in the 1950s, and the previous firehouse's chemical wagon and original concrete block sign are still on display.

The former fire station still stands and is now known as Valley Center Automotive. According to officials, the red siren on top of three telephone poles near the firehouse alerts firefighters and can be heard for three miles.
