Long Valley Among America's Most 'Peaceful Town's To Visit' In 2023

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Most people who have visited Long Valley are aware of its natural charm and beauty, but it is now being recognized on a national scale.

The Travel, an online travel site, has compiled a list of the top 10 most peaceful towns to visit in the United States and Long Valley made the official cut.

The ten tranquil villages in the United States chosen for this list, which range from the coast of Maine to the beaches of Lake Superior, are considered ideal for anyone looking to get away for a relaxing vacation.

Long Valley was named the third most peaceful town in the country, owing to its abundance of community gardens and public food-growing areas, as well as the breathtaking natural scenery that surrounds the community, according to the report.

The township is also known for the Washington Township Family & Community Services / Municipal Alliance Commission, which promotes community wellness through drug and alcohol education.

Last year a report from SafeWise, which contextualizes crime and safety trends, ranked New Jersey cities and towns in terms of "safety." The list included Long Valley, which placed 43rd out of 244 municipalities in the rankings.

According to FBI data, there were 2.7 property crimes and 0.4 violent crimes per 1,000 people in Long Valley in 2020. (The national averages are 19.6 property crimes and four violent crimes per 1,000, according to SafeWise.)

“We truly appreciate the bucolic nature of the Township and work with our volunteers on preserving open space and expanding opportunities for passive recreation,” Vice Mayor Michael A. Marino said.
