Long Valley Fire Department To Host 'Wetdown' Celebration
The Fairmount Fire Company in Long Valley is welcoming their new fire engine with a "wetdown" this summer.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Get ready to hose ‘em down, Long Valley.
On June 10, the Fairmount Fire Company will celebrate the newest addition to the Fairmount fleet in Long Valley, and there will be only one way to celebrate: with a wetdown.
The wetdown will begin at 6 p.m. at the fire station, located at 12 Parker Road, in Long Valley. The event will also serve as a benefit for the local fire department.

In addition to the wet down, there will be a live performance by the David Christopher Band, food, and refreshments. Mugs, t-shirts and 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase.
A wetdown is a sort of christening for the new engine. Trucks from neighboring fire departments arrive and spray the truck to welcome it to service.

The Fairmount Fire Company was founded in 1948, and some of its founding members also worked for the Long Valley and Califon Companies.
With over fifty years of continuous service, the Fairmount Fire Company is still an active part of the Fairmount community today. To keep up with modern firefighting tactics, the company has grown in a variety of ways.
The fire department has expanded to a fleet of five modern vehicles, and the company's trained members are still serving and protecting the residents of Washington and Tewksbury Township.
