Long Valley Teen Honored For Medical Conference Participation
John Chen, 16, of Washington Township, successfully completed the National Academies Congress of Future Medical Leaders conference.

LONG VALLEY, NJ β 16-year-old West Morris Central High School student John Chen was recognized at the National Academies Congress of Future Medical Leaders this summer.
Chen, from Washington Township, was given the Award of Excellence for his completion of the academy. The conference is only open to honors students, and the goal is to honor and reward high-achieving students dedicated to medicine or the S.T.E.M. subjects.
Students at the conference were taught by award winning medical professionals, including Nobel Prize and National Medal of Science winners.

After returning from the program, Chen worked to organize a series of science speakers at the Washington Township Public Library. Some of the speakers include science department faculty from Princeton, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), and a physicist from Picatinny Arsenal.
