Results Of Long Valley Primary 2023, Committee Race Contested In Fall
The numbers are in, and Long Valley will be choosing a new committee member this November. Here's what to know:

LONG VALLEY, NJ — After an uncontested primary election, the general election showdown is set for Washington Township.
Residents will go to the polls again this November to elect a new member of the township committee.
The current mayor, Matthew Murello, who ran for reelection with the Regular Republican Organization, received the most votes in the primary election last night.

Election results remain unofficial until certified by the Morris County Clerk.
As it currently stands, Murello is the highest vote-getter with 805 votes. There was no Republican challenger during this year's primary election. Murello has been the mayor of Long Valley for five consecutive years.

Murello will face off this November against Deborah "Susan" Desaulniers, who is running under the Morris County Democratic Committee. Desaulniers, the sole Democratic candidate, received 478 votes during last night's primary.
The Morris County clerk has not certified the totals yet. To make the tally official, the final certification of the results must be done on June 19.
If elected in November, Desaulniers will be the only Democrat on the township committee.
The general election is set for Nov. 7, 2023.
