Snapshot Report Of Homelessness Near Long Valley
NJ Counts 2020 shows a point-in-time view of homelessness in the area.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ - Monarch Housing has released NJ Counts 2020, New Jerseyβs annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count of the Homeless, which provides a statewide snapshot of households experiencing homelessness.
The full report details where they find shelter, what their needs are, and what factors contribute to making them homeless. The 2020 Count reveals demographic and other information about families and individuals experiencing homelessness on the night of Tuesday, Jan. 28.
These findings help to understand how to better allocate housing resources and services in order to prevent and end homelessness.

On the night of Jan. 28, a total of 243 households, including 354 persons, were experiencing homelessness in Morris County, according to the 2020 Point-In-Time Count. A total of 51 persons were identified as chronically homeless. 29 persons were unsheltered on the night of the count.

Morristown, the county seat, set the high watermark by far. The total homeless population of 262 far outpaced Dover, which came second with nine. That number accounts for 74 percent of the county homeless population, according to the report and the 13 unsheltered account for 45 percent of the county total.
