Advanced Placement Honors Go to 37 MHS Students

Four receive highest honor bestowed by College Board.

A total of 37 students from Madison High School earned recognition of their achievement on the College Board's Advanced Placement Exams taken last school year.

The highest honor an AP test taker can receive is the National Scholar Award, given to those receiving a score of at least 4 on every exam they took, and a scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of the exams.

Four students from MHS, Jodi Balfe, Courtney Halgren, Akhil Mathew and Caroline Miller, were bestowed with the honor.

In addition, 15 students received the next highest honor of AP Scholar with Distinction. Those students received an average score of at least 3.5 on exams taken, and a score of 3 or higher on five or more of them. Those students were Jodi Balfe, Jessica Griener, Courtney Halgren, Robert Hicks, Monica Khan, Emily Klein, Christine Kosmider, Akhil Mathew, Caroline Miller, Harrison Mills and Daniel Powell.

Eight MHS students were bestowed the honor of AP Scholar with Honor, receiving an average score of at least 3.25 on all of the exams they took, and 3 or higher on four or more of the exams. Those students were Kalyani Bhatt, Alexandra Greene, Nicole Kosmider, Louisa Lebwohl, Jason Maulbeck, Courtney McKinnon, Jack O'Connor, and Gregory Zitelli.

A group of 14 were honored as AP Scholars, receiving a score of 3 or higher on three ore more of the exams. Those students were Sarah Barba, Gerardo Bledt, Alexander Brock, Thomas Cucchiara, Juan Gil, Michael Haughey, Melissa Iskandar, Leonardo Johansson-Lebro, Keith Needham, Allison O'Keeffe, Emily Rutland, Aaron Shinn, Catherine Turvey, and Jason Von Der Linde.
