Borough Man Involved in Fatal Northern New Jersey Car Crash
A head-on collision in Sparta left one dead earlier today.
A northern New Jersey woman was killed earlier today after her vehicle crossed over the double-yellow line and collided with a dump truck being driven by a Madison man.
Sparta Police responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at approximately 9:56 a.m. at the 36.2 mile mark in between West Mountain Road and the Sparta Middle School, police said. Donna L. Golian, 56, of Stockholm, was traveling northbound on Route 517 when her 2000 Cadillac crossed the double-yellow line into the southbound lane, according to Sgt. Dennis Proctor of the Sparta Police.
Golian’s vehicle subsequently collided head-on with a 1997 Dodge Ram dump truck being driven by Rodrigo Montes, 49, of Madison, police said. Montes suffered a leg injury in the crash and was taken to Newton Medical Center.

Golian was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the crash, being led by Det. Jeff McCarrick, is ongoing.
