Community, PD Come Together for National Night Out

Residents say it's great for them and their children to get to know the men and women who protect the borough.

The Madison community came together on Tuesday for National Night Out, as residents hosted block parties to help strengthen neighborhood spirit and heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. Members of the Madison Police Department, as well as visiting agencies such as the Hopatcong PD, Newark PD, FBI, New Jersey Transit Police, U.S. Customs Border Control, and the Coast Guard, went out to visit each block party. Lt. Jerry Mantone, who has been director of Madison's National Night Out for the past seven years, said Madison has been participating for the entire 27 years the national campaign has been in existence.

Madison Patch rode along with the Emergency Services Unit, which was represented by Lt. Darren Dachisen, Detective John Miscia, Officer Kevin Boone, Officer Kenneth Shannon, Communications Officer Chris Burans, Project Community Pride Director Brigitte Kelly and Program Specialist Lara Shaljian, and Borough Council President and Public Safety Liaison Jeannie Tsukamoto. Here is a some of what we saw on National Night Out.
