Fire Focus: FD Played Vital Roles in Accident Relief
Two incidents, including bicycle accident, were helped by Madison Firefighters.

May 4, 1:01 p.m.: Fire department personnel were dispatched to a residence on Fairwood Road for a report of a fire in the home. Upon arrival, fire units found a light smoke condition in the home. After a thorough investigation, a "hot spot" in the dining room ceiling was discovered with the aid of a thermal imaging camera. Firefighters removed the light fixture and "opened up" the ceiling. An area of charred wood was found and a foam extinguisher was used to extinguish the smoldering area. The cause appears to be improper wiring of a light fixture.
May 10, 9:53 a.m.: Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Green Avenue and Hillside Avenue. Fire personnel assisted in removing the occupant of one vehicle and assisted the Ambulance Corps with patient care.
May 11, 9:05 a.m.: Fire department personnel were dispatched to Ridgedale Avenue by Burnet Road for the bicycle vs. car accident with the bicyclist pinned under the car. Upon arrival, fire units found a car on top of a bicyclist. Firefighters quickly stabilized the car and used airbags and other equipment to safely "lift" the car off of the patient. The patient was treated by paramedics during this time. The patient was safely removed within 10 minutes after the fire units arrived.
