MADISON, NJ — It's almost Girl Scout Cookie season, which means it's time for Madison residents to stock up on Thin Mints and Tagalongs.

If you happen to know a Girl Scout, you may have already placed your order. However, if all of the Girl Scouts in your family and neighborhood have graduated, you may be wondering where you can get your cookies.

Almost all troops have abandoned door-to-door sales in favor of booth sales set up at various shopping malls and events. The 2023 cookie program runs from Jan. 25 - April 30, according to Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey.

Girl Scouts of the USA has set up a website to help people locate booth sales nearby, which allows you to support your local troop even if you don't know them personally. All you have to do is enter your zip code in the search bar and it will bring up cookie booth sales nearby.

Here are all the ways to purchase the cookies this season, according to Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey:

  • If you know a registered Girl Scout, reach out to find out how she's selling cookies.
  • Text COOKIES to 59618 to be among the first to receive information about Girl Scout Cookies and more Girl Scout news.
  • Beginning Feb. 27, enter your zip code in the cookie-finder search bar, and it will bring up cookie booth sales nearby.

Cookies sales proceeds go to the local troops and Girl Scout councils. The last day to purchase cookies is April 30.

Girl Scouts of the USA says the purpose behind the cookie sales is to help local councils and troops "to power amazing experiences year-round for Girl Scouts" such as service projects and summer camp.

"Behind every box is a girl learning important skills to power her leadership journey and unlock a world of opportunities," said Wendy Lou, Girl Scouts USA’s chief revenue officer. "Financial literacy is not only a critical skill required for entrepreneurship but an essential life skill.
