Holocaust Survivor to Speak at Drew University
The university will be screening a documentary on Auschwitz escapees and holding a discussion with a survivor.

Drew University will be hosting a Day of Remembrance, featuring a screening of “Escape from Auschwitz”, a documentary, and a discussion with an Auschwitz survivor and the daughter of one of the underground group members who helped prisoners escape.
The event will take place on Wednesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Baldwin Gymnasium on the Drew University campus in Madison.
“Escape from Auschwitz” documents the stories of Rudolph Vrba and Alfred Wetzler, both of whom escaped Auschwitz with the help of an underground network, the university said in a release.

A question and answer session with Eva Vogel and Hedy Brasch will follow the screening of the documentary. According to the university, Brasch was a prisoner at Auschwitz during the time of the escape and Vogel’s father was a member of the underground network.
According to Drew University, each year the Drew University Center for Holocaust/Genocide Study presents a program for Yom HaShoah, or the Day of Remembrance, in commemoration of the millions of Jews and others who died during World War II.

The program is free and open to the public due to support from the Jacqueline Berke Program Fund and the New Jersey Commission for Holocaust Education.
