Madison Chamber of Commerce Warns Residents of Telephone Scam

The Madison Chamber of Commerce is alerting residents in the town of a telephone scam, where callers claim to be soliciting on behalf of the chamber of commerce.

The caller is calling from a 661 area code and claims to be from “the Chamber Outreach Program”, according to the Independent Press. The telephone scammer is not affiliated with the Madison Chamber of Commerce.

“The Chamber doesn’t farm out its solicitations to third-party vendors,” Karen Meyer Giambra, executive director of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, said, according to NJ.com.

The Madison Chamber of Commerce will only contact members and interested residents from a 973 area code telephone number.
