Madison Mayor, Borough Officials Honored at Drew University

Mayor Bob Conley and Assistant Borough Administrator Jim Burnet were honored at Drew University's annual Civic Engagement Awards.

Madison Borough Mayor Bob Conley and Assistant Borough Administrator Jim Burnet were honored at Drew University’s annual Civic Engagement Awards.

Conley and Burnet were honored for their work and partnerships with Drew University, including the Chief Executive Council for Madison Emerging Leaders Fellows programs and other internship and partnership opportunities for Drew students, the university said. The two received the Collaborative Action Award for their commitment.

The Chief Executive Council of Madison was established by a group of local leaders in 2012 and enables Drew University students to meet with local executives, participate in panel discussions and serve in the Emerging Leaders Fellowship program.

“Since 2009, Drew University has been recognizing and rewarding our faculty, staff and students whose commitment to the greater good has led them to support civic engagement in its many forms,” Amy Koritz, director for the Center of Civic Engagement, said in a release. “These honorees represent a deep and pervasive commitment at Drew to addressing the urgent social challenges of our time. Their many civic activities reflect the value Drew places on reciprocity and respect in the service of adding to the world’s good.”

At its annual Civil Engagement Awards, Drew University recognizes individuals and groups who have made a commitment to improving their community.

Additionally, Jimmy Jones of Morristtown, owner of J & J Taxi and Limousine Service, was the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation. Jones’ car service transports Drew students to community sites at a discounted rate in support of their commitment to serving the elderly and homeless, tutoring children and distributing furniture to families in need.
