Madison Resident Allegedly Fired Handgun In Home
56-year-old man charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A 56-year-old Madison man has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after an incident at his apartment on Friday.
Madison police arrested William J. Barrett after Patrolman Matthew Mirabella and Sgt. Peter Iossa responded to his apartment when a family member reported he had fired a handgun inside the home.
After a field investigation by Mirabella, Barrett was placed under arrest.

Det. Paul Kosakowski and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit also conducted an investigation, alleging that Barrett had fired the weapon and was illegally in possession of it.
Along with the aggravated assault charge, Barrett was also charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and discharge of a firearm within the Borough of Madison.

Barrett was processed and taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 dollars bail with no 10-percent option.
No one was injured from the discharge of the firearm.
