Madison Resident Strikes Motorcyclist in Morris County

A 75-year-old Madison woman collided with a motorcyclist in Morris County earlier this week.

A Morristown man was taken to the hospital Sunday night after a collision with an SUV being driven by a Madison resident, authorities said.

Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of South Street and Woodland Avenue at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, according to a report from NJ.com.

When police arrived, they discovered Ryan Brennan, 40, of Morristown, had been operating a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, heading west on South Street, Patch reported. Brennan was struck by a Honda CRV being driven by Florence Vavrek, 75, of Madison, the report said.

Vavrek was turning from eastbound South Street onto Woodland Avenue at the time of the collision, NJ.com reported. She was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to yield to an oncoming vehicle with the right of way.

Brennan suffered serious injuries, including a compound fracture to his lower right leg, and injuries to his face and left wrist, according to Patch.

Brennan was taken to Morristown Medical Center after medical assistance was administered to him at the scene.
