NBA Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar To Speak At Drew U. Graduation

All-time scoring leader will be joined by 2015 Nobel Prize winner.

MADISON, N.J. – Not a lot of schools can say their commencement speakers are the all-time leading scorer in NBA history and a Nobel Prize winner.

Drew University is changing that this month.

The Madison school’s 148th commencement ceremony, to be held Saturday, May 14, will feature Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, NBA legend and all-time leading scorer as well as author of 11 books.

He’ll be joined at the podium by William Campbell, who won a Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2015 and is an associate fellow in Drew’s Research Institute for Scientists Emeriti.

Commencement will begin at 10:30 a.m., and Abdul-Jabbar is expected to reach the podium around 11 a.m., the school said. He’ll be receiving an honorary degree for his efforts.

Drew University has a total enrollment of 2,000 students with 145 full-time faculty members.
