Prescription Disposal Box New Fixture in Police Lobby

People can dispose of unwanted or expired prescriptions anytime at Madison police headquarters.

People can now dispose of their unwanted or expired prescription drugs at Madison police headquarters anytime, police announced Monday.

A "MedReturn" box donated by Morris County Prevention is Key has been added to the Madison Police Department lobby, and the department, in conjunction with Morris County Prevention is Key, is accepting expired or unused prescription drugs on a permanent basis, according to a news release from Madison Police Chief Darren Dachisen.

Accepted items for disposal include prescriptions, prescription patches, prescription medications, prescription ointments, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, medication samples and medications for pets.

Items that are not accepted include needles (sharps), thermometers, hydrogen peroxide, inhalers, aerosol cans, medication from businesses or clinics and ointments, lotions or liquids.

Residents and nonresidents can bring their medications to Madison Police Headquarters, 62 Kings Road, at the corner of Kings Road and Prospect Street. Other collection sites and more information can be found on www.americanmedicinechestchallenge.com or www.safehealthymorris.org.
