'Severe' Forecast Cancels Farmers' Market

Storms could bring hail, gusts and heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service.

A hazardous weather outlook for Northern New Jersey that says "strong to possibly severe thunderstorms" could hit the area has resulted in the Madison Farmers Market being canceled for Thursday, according to alerts from Madison Police and ILoveMadisonNJ.org.

According to the National Weather Service, there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms that could bring small hail, gusty winds and heavy rain, mainly between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Up to three-quarters of an inch of rain is forecast, possibly more if there are thunderstorms, the weather service said.

The Madison Farmers Market, which is open from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursdays on Waverly Place, returns next week with a special visit from fresh seafood vendor Shore Catch, also known as "The Fish Guy," according to the email from ILoveMadisonNJ.org.
