Week in Review: New Rules in Borough, Schools

It was a week that saw new laws and rules take root in the borough. A 24-hour business limitation ordinance was passed a day before a high school activities fee was enacted for next school year.

On Monday, we brought you a gallery from the first Downtown Concert Series of the year, held outside of the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts. We also gave you over 40 images from the Madison Artist Studio Tour. Finally, we told you about how a wine tasting went toward supporting the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

On Tuesday, we told you about how the 24-hour business limitation ordinance became law at the Borough Council meeting. We also took a look back on the Madison High School baseball team's season, with a look toward the future. We also told you about how Madison residents were denouncing a proposed Chatham Twp. lighting ordinance.

On Wednesday, we told you about how the Board of Education voted through finance committee recommendations for budget restorations, including a partial elementary Spanish program limited to the 4th and 5th grades. We also in the same story told you about the $100 activities fee that would be charged to high school students participating in activities with a board approved stipend. We also told you about how the ROOKIE division of Madison Softball had a great time at its end of the season celebration. We also took a look back at the high school softball team's season, a squad that appears poised for big things next year.

On Thursday, we told you how Madison Recreation Complex Advisory Committee chair Marty Horn told the BOE he expects the borough to go out and bid on the MRC's Phase 1a in about two to four weeks.
