BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Bergen County is home to one of the most expensive housing markets in New Jersey, according to a new report from real estate data firm ATTOM.
As of the fourth quarter of 2022, the median home sales price in Bergen County is $615,000, putting it at the top of the list, followed by Morris County at $550,000. Hudson, Cape May and Salem counties were not included in the analysis.
ATTOM data, according to an NJ.com report, also reveals that prospective homebuyers need more than $171,000 annually to afford a typical home in Bergen County — that is the highest salary needed in all 18 counties that were analyzed.

But despite the high list prices, California and New York still take the title as the most expensive states to live in, for the 10 counties needing the highest wages for home ownership are in those two states, the reports said.
