BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A real estate firm is planning to add to its portfolio a new 70-unit multifamily residential development in northwestern Bergen County, a spokesperson said.

The Hampshire Companies, a private firm out of Morris County, announced plans for a 104,620-square-foot community at 220 West Crescent Street in Allendale.

Construction of the property, which is scheduled for completion in Q2 of 2024, "highlights continued investment in Allendale," the spokesperson said.

In 2021, the firm negotiated a deal with the borough to acquire the land at 220 West Crescent and a neighboring 114,500-square-foot vacant industrial building at 230 West Crescent. Upon acquiring that property, Hampshire oversaw a capital improvement plan to bring the building to full occupancy in early 2022.

“Our work in Allendale is emblematic of our vision of transforming possibilities into opportunities to better serve our communities," James Hanson II, Hampshire president and CEO, said. "We are excited to bring our vision to life over the months to come.”

The design from Hasbrouck Heights firm DMR Architects will feature one- and two-bedroom residences, including six affordable housing units and three units designated for first responders. Residents will also enjoy access to a clubroom, storage, lounge and a 9,640-square-foot outdoor courtyard.

“DMR worked with Hampshire and the township to create a design that would ensure aesthetic and proportional cohesiveness for a development that serves many important functions," Kurt Vierheilig, Director of Design and Partner for DMR Architects, added. "We are excited to see this lively, functional and beautiful development come to life in a way that is meaningful to the Allendale community."
