South Orange's New Bridge Opens to Pedestrians, Cyclists

The bridge opened one day earlier than expected; landscaping and path work is still underway.

South Orange's newest bridge is open for business, earlier than expected.

"Two days already," said one worker, busy digging holes for a new tree that will stand on the middle school side of the blue bridge. The new bridge connects the Duck Pond/middle school area with the pool and playing fields. The bridge was expected to be open Tuesday; according to workers, it was open Monday.

Work continues in the area, especially on the Duck Pond side. In addition, Tuesday's rain left the area fairly muddy, perhaps making the walkway more difficult for those with strollers or walking with aid.
