911 Calls Made In Aberdeen Are Now Routed Through The County

911 calls will now be routed through a call center run by the Monmouth County Sheriff​. Aberdeen Councilman Greg Cannon praised the move.

ABERDEEN, NJ — Aberdeen Police announced this week Aberdeen switched to start using Monmouth County’s 911 services, effective Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Prior to this, when you called 911 in Aberdeen, the call went straight to Aberdeen Police headquarters. Now, it is routed through a call center run by the Monmouth County Sheriff.

Aberdeen Police say the Monmouth County Sheriff has a state-of-the-art dispatch center.

"By joining forces with the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division, Aberdeen Township Police will now be served by a state-of-the-art dispatch center staffed with highly trained public safety telecommunicators," said Aberdeen Police in a statement Tuesday on their Facebook page. "This partnership provides access to enhanced technology, broader resources and seamless coordination during critical incidents."

“Our mission has always been to deliver the highest quality service to our community,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Matthew Lloyd. “This transition strengthens our ability to respond quickly and effectively to calls for service, while ensuring the safety of our officers and residents.”

Aberdeen Councilman Greg Cannon praised the move:

"Public safety is at the core of what we do as a governing body. Moving to Monmouth County’s centralized dispatch ensures that our residents benefit from the best available resources and the most advanced emergency communications system in the region. This is a smart investment in both safety and efficiency for Aberdeen.”

Call Aberdeen Police at 732-566-2054 for non emergencies. In the event of an emergency, residents should always dial 9-1-1.
