Aberdeen PD: Car Burglars Nab Purse, Small Amounts of Change

A look at police activity between Feb. 13 and Feb. 19 in Aberdeen Township.

The Aberdeen Township Police Department responded to or initiated 303 calls for service between Feb. 13 and Feb. 19, 2013, including eight suspicious persons/vehicles; 19 alarms; 17 first aid calls; 10 motor vehicle crashes; four thefts; three domestic violence incidents, three noise complaint; 11 disorderly persons, three burglaries, and 106 motor vehicle stops, according to Police Chief John Powers. Officers also issued 83 motor vehicle summonses.

The Aberdeen Township Police made the following arrests Feb. 13, 2013 through Feb. 19, 2013:

  • P.O. Roger Peter arrested a 22-year-old Keyport man on a contempt of court warrant out of Aberdeen municipal court on February 13.
  • P.O. Frank Maisano arrested a 43-year-old Old Bridge man for driving with a suspended license on February 13.
  • P.O. Anthony Marone arrested a 41-year-old Marlboro woman on a contempt of court warrant out of Aberdeen municipal court on February 14.
  • P.O. John Young arrested a 21-year-old Woodmere Drive resident for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court and possession of a hypodermic syringe on February 15.
  • A 40-year-old township man was charged with simple assault following an incident on County Rd. on February 15.  P.O. Jeffrey Griffith was the arresting officer.
  • P.O. Frank Maisano arrested a 31-year-old Keansburg man for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court following a motor vehicle stop on Highway 35 on February 17. He was also charged with speeding, driving while suspended, and driving an uninsured vehicle.
  • P.O. Anthony Valentino arrested a 33-year-old Perth Amboy woman on a contempt of court warrant out of Aberdeen municipal court on February 18.
  • P.O. Martin Walsh arrested a 27-year-old township man on a contempt of court warrant out of Sayreville municipal court on February 18.
  • Jeremy P. Weaver, 31, Elmwood Drive., Aberdeen, in connection with an incident on South Concourse on February 18.

Other police activity during that period:

  • On February 13 a Cliffwood Ave. resident reported someone entered two vehicles on his property and took a small amount of change.  Sgt. Henry Chevalier investigated.  
  • On February 13 a Beverly Dr. resident reported someone entered his vehicle during the night and took a small amount of cash.  P.O. John Young investigated.
  • A Matawan resident reported her pocketbook was stolen while she was at the Aberdeen Counseling Center, Hwy. 34, on February 13.  P.O. Mary Johnston took the report.
  • On February 14 a Matawan resident reported someone entered her vehicle while she was in the Stop and Shop store, Hwy. 34, and took her pocketbook. P.O. Michael Lasko investigated.
  • P.O. Michael Lasko investigated a report of harassment on Courtland Lane on February 14.
  • A set of license plates was reported stolen from a car rental lot on Hwy. 35 on February 15. P.O. Michael Lasko responded.
  • P.O. Martin Walsh responded to a trespassing complaint at Avalon apartments, Central Ave. on February 16.
  • P.O. Darryl Richardson responded to a report of the fraudulent use of a debit card at the Bank of America, Hwy. 34, on February 16.
  • P.O. Frank Maisano took a report of harassing phone calls on Grove St. on February 16.
  • On February 18 Erik A. Williams, 21, Aberdeen, fled on foot from P.O. Frank Maisano on Greenwood Ave. after the officer attempted to take him into custody on several outstanding warrants. Complaints for resisting arrest were signed, but the subject is still at large.
  • P.O. Gus Grivas took a report of harassing phone calls on Infield Lane on February 19.
