Assistant Matawan High School Football Coach Dies Suddenly
The coach is Jeffrey Grimm, who was also a business education teacher in Woodbridge. He died at Woodbridge High School, said police.
MATAWAN, NJ — An assistant coach for the Matawan Regional High School football team died suddenly Wednesday, the school district confirmed.
The coach is Jeffrey Grimm, who was also a business education teacher at Woodbridge High School.
Grimm died at work while in the Woodbridge High School building Wednesday afternoon.

He was found by school staff, who called 911, said Woodbridge Police Director Robert Hubner. His death is not being viewed by police as suspicious.
Grimm was the offensive line coach at Matawan Regional for the 2021 season.

"Matawan Regional High School is saddened by the passing of Jeffrey Grimm, offensive line coach at MRHS," said Matawan High School principal Aaron Eyler. "Our thoughts are with his family as they work through this incredibly difficult time, and we stand ready to support them in any way we can."
Grimm had been a longtime business teacher in the Woodbridge school district, where he was very well known and well liked among students, according to parents who knew him.
"The Woodbridge Township School District community is devastated by the passing of beloved business teacher Jeffrey Grimm," wrote superintendent Joe Massimino in this letter home to parents. "Mr. Grimm was an important member of our Woodbridge High School staff and he will be deeply missed ... We ask that you keep the Grimm family in your thoughts and prayers."
Students were crying in the high school Wednesday as news of his death spread through the school, said Woodbridge mom Kristine Heller, who said she personally did not know Grimm but said he was very well liked.
Woodbridge High School will have extra grief counselors on hand for all students Thursday and Friday.
