Tell us about your business and its history in your town.

Matawan CSA started in 2015. We are a group of local families who got together in order to purchase vegetables directly from the farm in Sussex County, New Jersey. We wanted food that was healthy, fresher than what you could get at the supermarket, organic, free of chemicals and high quality. We wanted to be able to support the farmer directly without having to go through a middleman. We are 100-percent volunteer run.

How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?

We realize now, more than ever, how important it is to know where our food is coming from. We wanted to know that we would not experience any food shortages. When we found out that the farmer's workers were delayed from arriving to the United States because of travel restrictions, our members volunteered to go work at the farm to make sure the farmer was ready for the 2020 season.

How can local customers support you now and in the future?

Locals can visit our website for more info on how to join. By joining they are also supporting the food bank at Matawan United Methodist Church, as we donate weekly our excess produce.

Do you have any words of encouragement for your community?

Are you offering any special services, promotions or hours during this time?

Are there any other outstanding businesses in town you think deserve some community support?
