Nearly 2 Dozen Animals Seized From 'Unsanitary' NJ Home
The home's residents are facing charges following the seizure, police said.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — Two Old Bridge residents are facing animal cruelty charges after police seized nearly two dozen animals from their home.
According to an Old Bridge Police Department news release, authorities seized 21 animals from the residence following complaints and an ongoing neglect investigation. Authorities said 16 dogs, three birds, one cat and one mouse were found living in "unsanitary and overcrowded conditions" and lacked proper veterinary care.
Following the seizure, authorities charged 59-year-old Tracey Kass and 45-year-old Shane Ulmer with 21 counts of animal cruelty each, as well as multiple violations of township ordinances.

"This is a deeply troubling case that highlights the importance of community vigilance and the need for responsible pet ownership," police said in a statement. "The township is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all animals in our community."
Police said the animals were removed from the home and taken to Old Bridge Animal Shelter for evaluation and treatment.
