SOUTH AMBOY, NJ — A new playground will one day be added to the Allie Clark Sports Complex in South Amboy, near the middle and high schools and the town library.

The playground will be built on what is currently a vacant lot near the athletic fields, at 99 George Street in South Amboy.

This was announced Wednesday by this area's congressman, Rep. Frank Pallone, who said he and South Amboy Mayor Fred Henry will release more details about the playground in a press conference Thursday on site. Pallone secured a $250,000 appropriation in federal tax dollars to build the playground.

"This generous funding will go a long way in helping to relocate our David Street Park to the Allie Clark Sports Complex," Mayor Henry said on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The new playground will be designed for preschoolers, and will feature equipment suitable for young children such as low swings, slides, a sandbox and play sculptures.

Its dimensions will be 50’ x 50’ feet (2,500 sq. ft.), capable of accommodating up to 33 children at a time, with shade-providing trees and native plants. The nearby parking area will also be repaired and reconfigured to meet safety standards, said Mayor Henry.
